PTA is in need of volunteers for our Fall Book Fairs next week, November 1st through the 4th!
If you are a paid member of PTA and can help in any way next week, it would be greatly appreciated.
What would you be helping with? We need volunteers to help set up, assist children with sales, work teacher previews, help at our 2 night sales and we need people to help break down the book fair on the last day.
Please click on the links below to see open slots for volunteers and to sign up!
Churchill: (Please note that Churchill runs for a 1/2 day longer than the other schools)
PTA appreciates your help and dedication to helping the children in our district!!
The Homewood PTA is selling KidStuff coupon books. For just $25 you’ll have hundreds of dollars of money saving coupons at your fingertips.
50% of purchases go to the PTA, which uses that money to sponsor many educational programs among our 3 schools.
Your kids have gotten these books to take home for you to see. If interested, keep the book and send check or cash payment in the money envelope provided back with your child to school. If you’re not interested in the book, simply return the item to the school with your child.
Thank you for your continued support of the Homewood PTA.
Come one and all! We want to hear from our valued PTA members. Should the PTA support the upcoming referendum for School District 153? Have your voice heard and your questions answered at a referendum special general meeting!
(Enter by the H-F Sports Complex or James Hart main entrance on Morgan Street)
The kids are all home from school this week and there is snow everywhere. Help the kids beat the boredom and do something other than play on electronics by letting them express their creativity. PTA Reflections is a program from the PTA designed to engage students in the arts.
So what is Reflections?
A new theme to draw creativity out of the students is given each year. This year’s theme is Let Your Imagination Fly and that’s truly what students should do. Students should give their imaginations free rein to develop this idea.
We’re interested, now what?
REFLECT on the theme. CREATE art. BE RECOGNIZED!
Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the following categories:
(General rules can be found in English here or Spanish here. Click on each link for specific rules.)
- Dance Choreography (SPA)
- Film Production (SPA)
- Literature (SPA)
- Musical Composition (SPA)
- Photography (SPA)
- Visual Arts (SPA)
- Special Artist (SPA)
Submissions and entry forms for Reflections are due on Wednesday, December 2nd. Your child can turn them in at school. Entry forms can be found in English here or Spanish here.

The Homewood PTA is privileged and humbled to be able to continue to serve Homewood School District 153. As we approach this Thanksgiving season, I would like to take this opportunity to express how thankful I am to the PTA Board members, and the host of other PTA members who volunteer in so many different capacities within the schools. All this would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of our wonderful volunteers. Your time, effort, patience and creativity are priceless, and have not gone unnoticed.
Thanks also to the local businesses and other interest groups that have partnered with the PTA to help us realize our goals for our children. Thanks also to the schools administrators, teachers and other support staff. Most importantly, the PTA thanks the schools for affording us the opportunity to be so integrally involved in enriching the curriculum and fostering the well-being of our children.
I wish for you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Every cook likes to have the occasional break from having to get the groceries, prep the food and whip up a meal for dinner after a long day. Giving your favorite cook a break is a very nice thing to do. You can make it even better though by also supporting your local Homewood PTA. Tomorrow night, October 20th will be a chance to participate in one of the many Cook’s Night Out Fundraisers the Homewood PTA will be having this year. The first one this year will be held at the Aurelio’s in Homewood.
Where, When and How to Support Your Homewood PTA
Whether you want to head to Aurelio’s for lunch or dinner, dine in or carry out all you need to do is bring along the Aurelio’s flyer (see below) and give it to your waitress or carry out cashier for the Homewood PTA to receive the funds your meal will earn.
Chicago Cubs and Aurelio’s Pizza Make a Great Team!
This is a great way event for tomorrow night because many people will be watching game 3 of the NLCS series between the Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets. So whether you are planning to watch the game to cheer or jeer the Chicago Cubs you can do it without having to cook a meal. Just call or order online and give the cashier your flyer at pickup. Great food and baseball is a perfect pairing!

It’s almost here! The day your Homewood PTA has been studiously working towards. In less than a week and our new Schwan’s Home Delivery Fundraiser will begin!
The fundraiser will be in three parts. There will be a Willow, Churchill and Millennium/James Hart one. We are doing it this way to maximize our revenue so that we can continue to offer the great services we always have to our wonderful district. Each time a new school/building’s fundraiser kicks off we will update you with the code you will need to enter to have your order total be counted towards Homewood PTA.
First school up is Willow and the fundraiser begins on Monday, September 28th. Take a look below for the important information and the code to use along with a look at the catalog.
